Skutt Catholic, like all Catholic high schools in Omaha, uses the HSPT (High School Placement Test) as its entrance exam. The primary purpose is to help us understand your child’s academic strengths so we can place them in the correct classes when they begin high school.
As part of the course placement process, we will also utilize your students’ middle school records.
Your student has been preparing for this exam throughout their education so far. The HSPT is designed to assess the skills and knowledge students have developed throughout their elementary and middle school education.
While there are many test prep guides, books, and courses on the market available for purchase, the publisher of the test, Scholastic Testing Service (STS), is in no way affiliated with any of these products and does not endorse them. STS believes that parents and teachers are best advised to avoid expensive preparation materials and to trust that a well-rounded education is the best form of test preparation.
The HSPT consists of six sections, all multiple-choice:
Skutt Catholic will award scholarships, ranging from $500 to $3,000, to students who score in the top 20% on the entrance exams taken at Skutt Catholic High School. CLICK HERE for additional information on scholarships.
Please Note: To be eligible for a merit-based scholarship, students must take the placement test at Skutt Catholic. Students who take the test at another school may have their scores transferred to Skutt Catholic for placement purposes; however, scholarships will not be awarded based on transferred scores.
