Skutt Catholic has 19 interscholastic athletic opportunities.  Many of our sports offerings include freshman, sophomore, and junior varsity levels of competition in addition to the varsity level, enhancing opportunities for participation.

The SkyHawk varsity athletic teams compete in the River Cities Conference, where year after year, member schools are continually at or near the top in all sports.  Visit the Skutt Catholic River Cities Conference Athletics page for the most comprehensive, up-to-date schedules for our teams.

fall sports
Cross Country +

Cross Country is a fall program open to both boys and girls. Our sport has a no-cut policy and is open to grades 9-12. We compete at both the Varsity and JV levels. We have an eight-week conditioning program each summer in June and July that includes running and weight training. Our season begins with practices in early August and ends anywhere from the first to the third week of October depending on the level. Both programs are highly successful contending for state titles each season.

Football +

The Football team is an open program for any male students that would like to participate in grades 9-12. There are three levels of competition: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and 9th Grade.  The 9th-grade program will practice separately from the varsity and junior varsity.  The football program has had great success in achieving high rankings and playoff appearances regularly.  Practice begins in early August and runs through mid-November, and also includes a summer weight and conditioning session as well.

Golf - Girls +

Girl’s golf is held during the Fall.  Five players participate on the varsity golf team and five play on the JV team.  Usually, there are 15-16 total members on the team and everyone on the team gets the experience of playing in at least one tournament.

Softball +

The Skutt Catholic softball program is a fall sport. It begins in early August and is completed by the middle of October. It is open to girls in grades 9-12 with all levels of ability. We have both Junior Varsity and Varsity teams that compete in the River Cities Conference. Our season schedule is mixed between Class A and Class B competition. Players are encouraged to prepare for high school softball by playing summer softball.

Volleyball +

The Volleyball Program has four different teams:  Varsity, Junior Varsity, Reserve, and Freshman. The mission of the Volleyball Program is to develop the most well-rounded student-athlete who will be leaders in the community as well as on the court.  The individuals in the program learn the benefits of teamwork, self-discipline, personal responsibility, setting high standards individually and as a team, and the joy of achievement.  Practice begins in early August and runs through mid-November, and also includes a summer weight and conditioning session as well.

The Boys Basketball program consists of five different teams:  Varsity, Junior Varsity, Reserve, Freshman A, and Freshman B.  We encourage all male students interested in playing competitive basketball to try out for the team.  Athletics is one of the best ways to learn important life skills and our staff believes in teaching hard work, teamwork, and the fundamentals of basketball.

The Skutt Catholic Girls Basketball program is an open program for any girls that would like to participate in grades 9-12.  Our motto is, “We set the standard for those who follow.”  We believe that our program utilizes the same tools necessary to become successful in life and can help an individual to grow within herself.  The innumerable lessons that an athlete can learn through our girls’ basketball program are the same experiences which can be applied to life.  This is the same philosophy that has allowed our program to achieve local and state-wide success.  Official practice begins in November and ends with the state tournament the first week in March.  In June, we run one of the best camps in the state, and these are open to anyone:   Grades 2-7 camp and 8-12 camp.  We also run a summer program that will help our high school student-athletes improve their individual skills.  Finally, we have a Jr. SkyHawk Club team for grades 4-8 that is open to anyone interested in improving her skills.  Tryouts are held in March.  For additional information for our summer camps, Jr. SkyHawk Club Team, games, and general information, follow us on Twitter @SkuttGBB and @JuniorSkyhawks.

Skutt Catholic is adding Bowling as a Winter NSAA Sport for the 2022-2023 season.  We will have Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, JV Boys and JV Girls teams and bowling is open to anyone.  Practices and home matches will occur at Mockingbird Lanes.

Swimming / Diving +

The Swimming and Diving Team combines with Mount Michael to help any interested student improve their techniques while competing against schools across the state. The team is open to athletes (boys and girls) of all levels and is a great way to get in shape for a spring sport or make swimming your primary sport.

Wrestling - Boys +

The Wrestling Program has won 15 Class B state titles, one state dual title and has finished as Class B runner-up once.  The Varsity team travels to many out of state regional and national tournaments. Official practice begins in November, and the winter season runs through February.

The girls wrestling program has a Varsity team, with potential for a JV level team as the sport grows across the state. The girls wrestling program had two NSAA state qualifiers in its inaugural year.  The varsity team travels to local, as well as out of state regional and national tournaments. Official practice begins in November, and the winter season runs through February.  Per NSAA rules, female wrestlers will practice and compete against female wrestlers only.  Wrestling is a sport for everybody. There is a place for everyone in the sport.  If you are seeking a sport that builds physical and mental strength, develops strong discipline, further develops multi-sport athletes, and offers potential to further your education, girls wrestling is the sport for you!

The Skutt Catholic Baseball program is an open program for any boy that would like to participate in baseball that is in grades 9-12. We compete in the very competitive River Cities Conference and have had great success in conference, district, and state tournaments. Official tryouts start in March, and the spring baseball season runs through the end of May. SkyHawk Baseball Association (SBA) also runs a summer baseball program with Reserves, Junior Legion and Senior Legion baseball teams from the end of May till the end of July.

Golf - Boys +
