ALUMNA OF THE YEAR 2025: ERIN MCMAHON RENDER ’02

Skutt Catholic honored Erin McMahon Render ‘02 as the recipient of the 2024-2025 Outstanding Alumnus Award at the Light of Leadership Mass on May 7. This prestigious accolade celebrates a graduate who truly embodies Skutt Catholic’s core mission: to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Erin, the CEO of Legato Living, stands as a powerful testament to resilience, profound compassion, and groundbreaking innovation within the realm of senior care. Her journey, which began with hands-on experience as a nurse aide, reflects an enduring commitment to serving others. Erin’s pursuit of excellence is further underscored by her master’s degree in Health Administration and her certification as a National Standard Building Contractor (B), highlighting her comprehensive understanding of her field.

Demonstrating remarkable drive, Erin achieved the milestone of becoming a licensed administrator at the age of 23. This pivotal experience allowed her to transform early challenges into significant opportunities, ultimately laying the foundation for the creation of the Legato Living franchise. 

This innovative model of senior care is characterized by its personalized approach and unwavering commitment to the dignity of each resident. Erin’s ongoing work in memory care continues to elevate industry standards, focusing on both the quality of care and the compassionate support of individuals navigating the complexities of dementia.

Erin spoke to Skutt Catholic students about how she lives out Skutt Catholic’s values in her everyday work. She emphasized that you don’t have to be at the top of your class to make a difference in others’ lives or to be successful. She encouraged students to be kind and think about how they want to be remembered. 

Erin’s connection to the Skutt Catholic community runs deep. She is married to Brett Render, a fellow graduate from the Class of 2002, and together they are raising four daughters. Adding to her legacy within the SkyHawk family, Erin is the daughter of the late Mike McMahon, a beloved past teacher and Activities Director whose impact on Skutt Catholic remains profound.
