Knowing that school-wide success happens by caring for each individual, Skutt Catholic aspires to empower its teachers, coaches, and staff to inspire and provide an exceptional educational experience from curriculum and instruction to activities and athletics, setting our students on the best possible course for their future.

Goal 1:

Skutt Catholic High School strives to foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, innovation, and support for our faculty and staff.

We will strive to create a culture of collaboration, empathy, innovation, and support for the faculty and staff of Skutt Catholic High School. This includes promoting a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, creativity, and professional growth. The aim is to provide ongoing support and training to ensure that faculty and staff have the resources and skills they need to succeed in their roles. Additionally, the school will work to create a culture of empathy, where staff members are encouraged to support one another and work together to create a positive environment for all members of the Skutt Catholic community.

Goal 1 Objectives:

  • Develop and implement a faculty and staff wellness program that includes regular check-ins, access to mental health resources, and care opportunities.
    • Research other school resources (Oct-Nov 2023)
    • Initiate communications with the JCC and YMCA for a corporate family membership (Feb 2024)
    • Implement faculty faith formation days in the 2024-25 school calendar (Feb 2024)
    • Adjust the calendar to remove late starts and allow full-day staff development (Feb 2024)
    • Promote EAP through Catholic Mutual (Spring 2024) 
  • Evaluate and develop faith formation opportunities to make available for staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and pedagogy.
  • Establish a teacher leadership program that empowers faculty to take ownership of school-wide initiatives and collaborate across and within departments.

This involves engaging students in a way that allows them to think critically and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways while ensuring teachers are equipped with the tools and resources needed to be effective in their roles.

  • Evaluate the current student-centered curriculum we have in place.
  • Develop a student-centered curriculum that emphasizes inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications.
  • Enhance instructional strategies to maximize student engagement and participation, such as project-based learning and peer collaboration.
    • Implement Apple Classroom (Completed Sept 2023)
    • Install Apple TVs (Completed Nov 2023)
    • Initiate a Lunch and Learn series
    • Hire and provide professional development for optimal course offerings (Spring 2024)
    • Incorporate the newly formed faculty AI Task Force (Spring)
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes to evaluate student learning outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Review all curriculums for opportunities to infuse catholic identity into the curriculum.
  • Seek opportunities for collaboration among disciplines, then determine how we serve a student population with wide-ranging academic abilities.
  • Continue to develop and implement a comprehensive teacher evaluation process that incorporates feedback from students, parents, and administrators to support ongoing professional growth and improvement.

Foster a culture of intentional and responsible technology use, empowering students to leverage technology for critical thinking and problem-solving while minimizing distractions and promoting digital wellness.

Skutt Catholic will foster a culture of intentional and responsible technology use, and implement policies and practices that empower students to use technology for critical thinking and problem-solving while minimizing distractions and promoting digital wellness. This will include developing guidelines for appropriate technology use in and out of the classroom and offering training for teachers and students on the effective and safe use of technology.

Goal 3 Objectives:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital citizenship curriculum that teaches students how to use technology responsibly, ethically, and safely.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their technology skills and knowledge to incorporate technology into their instruction.
  • Create and enforce school-wide policies that promote responsible technology use, such as device-free zones, appropriate cell phone/iPad usage, and limits on screen time.

Empower students to develop leadership skills and character through participation in extracurricular activities, athletics, and clubs. By emphasizing the importance of both academic and extracurricular pursuits, we aim to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are prepared for success beyond high school.

By emphasizing the importance of both academic and extracurricular pursuits, the school hopes to empower students to take ownership of their personal development and become leaders in the community.

  • Increase participation in extracurricular activities, athletics, and clubs by 5% over the next 2 years.
  • Develop a leadership curriculum that integrates with existing extracurricular activities and clubs.
  • Establish a mentorship program between upperclassmen and underclassmen in extracurricular activities, athletics, and clubs to promote character development and leadership skills.
