Skutt Catholic’s new Performing Arts Center, named for Monsignor James E. Gilg, is officially open! The John and Michaela Blazek Stage awaits future stars, while the Benjamin H. Ryan Memorial Theatricals honor artistic excellence. Archbishop Lucas blessed the space, and Monsignor Gilg himself christened the stage with a piano performance at the blessing and ribbon cutting event on April 22.
The Performing Arts Center will be known as the Monsignor James E. Gilg Performing Arts Center.
Performances will take place on the John and Michaela Blazek Stage.
Theatricals (sound, lights, curtains) will be named in memory of Benjamin H. Ryan.
The lobby will be named in honor of Archbishop George J. Lucas.

On Monday, April 10, Skutt Catholic leaders and supporters gathered for an official groundbreaking for the school’s new performing arts center. So far, $5.6 million of the $10 million fundraising goal has been met as part of the school’s The Next Act capital campaign. Other components of the effort include classroom upgrades, endowment growth and renovations of Moylan Field.

We are excited to share an update on The Next Act, a comprehensive $10 million capital campaign. As of January 1, benefactors had already committed close to $7.5 million. Thanks to the success of the $1 Million Match Challenge, we are now up to more than $9.1 million. But we still need your support to make this dream a reality!
A performing arts center has been in the master plan since the school began in 1993. Last school year we celebrated Skutt Catholic’s 30th year and announced that this goal will come to fruition.
Please join us to complete The Next Act and MAKE A DIFFERENCE for SkyHawks for years to come.

The main objective to The Next Act calls for a 425 seat auditorium featuring state of the art acoustics, and an expanded performance area complete with professional lighting and sound. This addition will also serve as a gathering space for Masses, educational opportunities and special community events.
An extensive renovation project began as part of the Soar Campaign, bringing a new branded look to the inside of the school, with many classrooms receiving modern, collaborative furniture. The Next Act will provide funding to upgrade the remaining classroom furnishings, displaying our SkyHawk identity and Catholic faith throughout the building.
Building Skutt Catholic’s endowment is another priority for The Next Act. A strong endowment will help secure the school’s future and provide tuition assistance to ensure all students have access to a Skutt Catholic education.
The addition of artificial turf on Moylan Field over 11 years ago has provided a consistent playing field, able to withstand all climatic conditions, for many activities and sporting events. With The Next Act campaign, Moylan Field will receive a new, thicker and longer turf surface as well as a renovation. By moving the long and triple jump areas to the east side of the visitors’ bleachers, the turf area will be expanded.

An engraved plate with your name will be installed when you commit to support the SkyHawk Fund and The Next Act campaign with a donation of $40 per month for three years. That is a total donation of $1,440.
