V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School has been named a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School. Part of the U.S. Department of Education, the program recognizes schools based on their overall academic excellence. Erin McMahon Render ‘02, the CEO of Legato Living, stands as a powerful testament to resilience, profound compassion, and groundbreaking innovation within the realm of senior care. Her journey, which began with hands-on experience as a nurse aide, reflects an enduring commitment to serving others. Erin’s pursuit of excellence is further underscored by her master’s degree in Health Administration and her certification as a National Standard Building Contractor (B), highlighting her comprehensive understanding of her field.
Matt embodies the SkyHawk spirit as a Senior Software Engineer at Indeed and as the Co-Founder of the ArchOmaha Catholic Young Adults group. Matt has shown unwavering commitment to fostering a community of faith and fellowship among young Catholics. He has also graciously shared his wisdom and experiences with our current students, speaking at retreats and, alongside his wife, offering insights on the vocation of marriage.
Jill Graham Seberger became a SkyHawk in 2000, when the school was still fairly new. She was passionate about boosting school spirit. Jill initiated spirit signs, pep rallies, theme nights at games, and a senior lounge. She was honored with the SkyHawk Spirit Award at her own Baccalaureate, and went on to become a cheerleader at UNL.
In developing world countries, sometimes a bridge alone can provide access to the infrastructure we take for granted in the United States – education, healthcare, and a livelihood. Skutt Catholic’s 2022 Alumna of the Year, Brittany Margritz ‘15, is building bridges to empower these underserved communities.
The 2020-2021 Outstanding Alumnus Award Winner is Mike Egermier ‘97, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with Egermier Wealth Management Group. Skutt Catholic president, Jeremy Moore, presented the award during the baccalaureate Mass and senior awards ceremony on May 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont.

Rachel spoke to the graduating seniors about gratitude and challenging themselves to take risks. She gave a special thanks to her parents and SC Coach Keith Engelkamp for the impact they have had on her life.

In her 10th year, Skutt Catholic head volleyball coach Renee Saunders has been named one of two National High School Coaches of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for 2020.

Skutt Catholic president, Jeremy Moore, has received the Nebraska Art Teachers Association (NATA) 2020 Prism Award in recognition for significant contributions to art education. Most recently, Moore championed the school’s new addition, featuring two new art rooms, a TV and digital media classroom, a choir classroom, and a new biology laboratory.
